Starbase Mentoring Program
-
Kick Off Camp
Building relationships is key to the success of the Starbase Mentoring Program. Each term will begin with a 3-day camp where participants will get to know each other and participate in a range of fun activities. This camp will serve as a launching pad for the rest of the program.
-
Nominate a Participant
We invite anyone from family members to any workers with young people to nominate an individual to participate in the Starbase Mentoring Program. We are targeting young people of South Sudanese background who have an older sibling engaged in the Youth Justice system.
-
Mentoring & Volunteering
The program involves regular one-on-one mentoring with participants and emerging young leaders from the South Sudanese community. Mentors are positive role models, inspire young people and share their life experiences and lessons. If you are interested in mentoring get in touch to learn more about what is involved.
-
Workshop Program
Throughout the program there will be weekly workshops which will provide skills development, support, and maintain the connections developed during the camp.
-
Mothers Support Group
Throughout the program there will be a fortnightly informal meeting for mothers and carers of participants where there will be discussion and support for dealing with issues impacting families in the community.
