Paramount Chief Kuol Adol Foundation
What We Do
PCKAF aims to improve the livelihood of the South Sudanese community and the people of Abyei through programs in South Sudan and Melbourne, Australia. Our philosophy is to promote personal growth, resilience and agency within individuals, to support a stronger community.
Our programs aim to:
Support mothers and children as vulnerable members of our community.
Develop young people, build life skills and provide life enhancing opportunities.
Champion education, especially of girls and older adults in the community.
Promote peace, establish strong connections and a peaceful coexistence with neighbouring communities.
Our activities are led and informed by the community. Our mission, motivation and values are guided by that of Paramount Chief Kuol Adol’s vision and what he stood for.
Emerging Leaders Program
The Emerging Leaders Program provides high school students with support through a targeted mentoring program aimed at developing leadership skills and providing academic support within a nurturing environment. The program helps participants connect with community leaders and prepare for their future careers.
Starbase Mentoring Program
The Starbase Mentoring Program aims to strengthen aspirations and opportunities for young Sudanese Australians in Melbourne’s west that have an older sibling engaged with the youth justice system and are at risk of disengagement. The project will increase connection to community and culture through a 6-month mentoring and group program. Young people will be supported to develop positive role models, set goals and achieve them.
Cultural Events & Social Activities
PCKAF hosts a range of cultural events and social activities in Aybei, South Sudan and Melbourne, Australia. These events celebrate the values of Paramount Chief Kuol Adol and provide social activities for young people and families in the community.
